Fourth Amendment Stands Strong to Protect Warrantless Searches

Officers in Rhode Island illegally searched the home of Edward Caniglia without a warrant. The officers justified the search based on a purported exception to the Fourth Amendment warrant requirement called the “community caretaking” exception.
