Getting Started

How do I know if I have a case?

Schedule an initial consultation. We’ll listen to your situation, evaluate the facts, and let you know whether the legal claims and defenses are viable.

How much does a consultation cost?

We offer a free 15-minute virtual consultation. Longer paid consultations are also available. See the Schedule a Consultation page for the full fee schedule.

Do you take cases nationwide?

Yes. Hamed Law is a national law firm headquartered in Washington, D.C.

The Consult

What should I bring to my consultation?

Bring any documents related to your case — emails, letters, records, photos, or anything else that helps us understand the facts of your situation.

Is the consultation confidential?

Yes. Whatever you share with us during a consultation is kept confidential.

Does an initial consultation mean Hamed Law is representing me?

No. An initial legal consultation does not mean that Hamed Law is officially representing you or has taken on your case. Once you’ve decided to retain Hamed Law, there will be a written representation agreement signed by both you and the attorney.

The Lawsuit

How long does a typical case take?

It depends on the complexity of the case. Some matters resolve in months through settlement; others, especially those that go to trial or appeal, can take years.

What costs are involved?

Costs vary by case. We’ll discuss our fee structure and any out-of-pocket costs — filing fees, expert witnesses, and so on — during your consultation.

How do you decide whether to take a case?

Our process is methodical: we use qualitative and quantitative assessments to determine risk, expenses, duration, and exposure of litigation. After identifying witnesses, collecting key records, and verifying facts, we determine whether the claims and defenses are viable.

The Follow Up

What happens after my case ends?

We follow up to make sure any judgment or settlement is properly enforced. If your case touches on broader policy questions, we may also share its impact in our resources or press materials.

Can you help me with appeals?

Yes. Hamed Law also handles appellate work in cases involving constitutional rights and discrimination.
